Short, Sharp, Cold.

Today brought this year's first hard frost, and the shortest day. Both were over relatively quickly, with clear night sky turning to fog, then sunshine and bag to fog in the late afternoon. The air was cold enough this morning that it was something of a shock to the lungs, and the hands. The resulting photographs are blurry from low light and lack of steadiness. The fog has been making headlines for a couple of days as airlines have cancelled flights, and holidaymakers are delayed. Given that I am staying put, the fog is a lovely thing, scattering light, blurring the edges of every scene.

The geraniums Pam R. gave me last year.

Ice in one of the buckets.

Sunshine on a plane tree in the middle of Highbury Park, noon-ish.
